   Why has Google punished me and praised a thief?
   
   I published a hubpage on the 27th (4 days ago) and it wasn't long before it was visible in Google search. Two days later the content was copied (minus two video's) and pasted on a spam site with a link to my hub profile. My hub has since disappeared from Google altogether. The webpage on the site that stole my content is now in the exact place where my hub was in Google search results, taking all the credit for my work.
   
   Why has Google decided to give the boot to my hubpage, and not the thief? I'm fuming!

   I dont know why google would do that. But um, i would threaten them..not google but the page that copied you.  Let them know you know, and if they do not take it down you will sue.  You can actually get a lot of money from someone stealing your work.  It is against the law and it does not matter what google or anyone says.  If you published it first, it is copyrighted (1989).

      They took my article down after I complained. The thing is, though, the site is full of copied hub pages. I never noticed until tonight when I had a look through the rest of the content on the site.

   I'd contact Google and Hubpages about it to see if there's something that can be done about it. I'm fairly certain that Hubpages would have back-up files of it and records of it to prove that you created it first, and then you'd have evidence to show Google in order to have them take down that spam site.

      Thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind in future for sites that are more reluctant to remove my written work.

      In most cases filing a DMCA take down notice with the webhost will get the copy removed. It's only if it were challenged that you would need to provide evidence of publication date.

      The site doesn't have a contact form, so I left a comment on the copied article asking that they take it down. I looked tonight and they've removed my article from the site, but the page is still up. It saved me from filing a DMCA for now.

   If their domain is in another country, good luck. They just pop up another one. I had that happen to me with one hosted on its own servers in Russia. As sophisticated as G is, they cannot decipher which content was published first. A multibillion dollar company and no true timestamp technology.

   The site doesn't have a contact form. I was successful in having my content removed by leaving a comment.
   
   And even though each copied article has a link back to each persons hubpage, I think it's doing more harm than good. My hub disappeared from Google when I searched for the keyword after it was stolen, and in its place was that spam site. My hub is still visible when I search for the exact title in Google, but not the keyword I was using.

      In this kind of situation, hubbers would normally post a thread in the forum so that more people get to see it and can therefore take action

   I say we click bomb those stealers.  If we could get 100 hubbers to click on 10 or more of that site's ads every day, I bet their AdSense account would get cancelled due to invalid click activity.
   
   I've had this (content theft) happen with my hubs more times than I can count.  It's bad enough when someone steals your content...but when they also OUTRANK you with it and Google buries your hub?  That pisses me off.  I've given up on HP so many times over garbage like that (but I always come back, because I just like the people here).  I used to file DMCA takedowns, but my traffic never came back and I got tired of it all and just stopped publishing on this account.

      You can lose YOUR adsense account by click bombing someone else. What's the point in that?
